JAMMU: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), senior leader Harbans Choudhary has appealed to Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir for providing emergency financial assistance to all poor workers in unorganised sector, who are working as drivers, conductors, workshop mechanics, local Rehri-Fhari vendors etc and others who are not registered anywhere and are at verge of starvation along with their families.
“On the analogy of Delhi Government, which has extended Rs 5,000 to all such workers and especially auto and other driver & conductors, they should also be provided financial assistance in J&K. Even Central Government has also directed the Labour Ministry to prepare a list of migrant workers all over the country with their bank accounts details on war-footing level for providing them financial assistance,” Choudhary said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
He further said that majority of aforementioned workers have lost their livelihood due to nationwide lockdown and need urgent financial support from the government.
