KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board employees belonging to various unions have opposed the forcible deduction of Rs 200 per month from their salaries since January 2020 on account of Social Welfare Fund by Chief Account Officer.
Head of the employees’ union Raj Kumar, General Secretary Parshotam Singh, head of Safai Karamchari Union Dewan Chand and Secretary Parveen Kumar said that the employees have not been made aware of the creation of this Fund nor did the authorities obtained the consent of employees. They said that it was obligatory on the part of administration to explain to 95 per cent strength of the class III and IV employees of the Shrine Board about the by-laws of the Social Welfare Fund and obtain the consent of all these employees before making recovery from their salaries.
Union members said that an amount of Rs 6 lakh per month has been recovered from the salary of employees and it would be fair if the Board also contributes an equal amount in this fund. They demanded that contribution towards Social Welfare Fund should not be made compulsory but optional and those who are not willing to contribute should be exempted.
They said that a committee should be constituted to monitor this account in which proportionate representation should be given to the lower staff.
