KATHUA: An awareness rally on the theme ‘Gandhian Ideas In Today’s World’ was organised by Red Ribbon Club GDC Kathua in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education (J&K) to commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. About 100 volunteers of Red Ribbon Club and students of the college participated in the rally which was flagged off by Prof. Kartar Chand Principal GDC Kathua and the Chairman of the Red Ribbon Club. The rally started from GDC Kathua and reached Shaheedi Chowk by passing through various Bazars.
While addressing the Rally Dr. Arun Dev Singh Programme Officer of Red Ribbon Club said that the time has come when students have to play pivotal role to aware the masses regarding the values of Gandhian Ideas.
Principal of the college Prof. Kartar Chand appreciated the efforts of Red Ribbon Club of the college in organizing Rally in which Gandhian Ideas was the main theme.
Prof Sumanesh Jasrotia, Prof. Rakesh Singh, Dr. Deepshikha, Prof. RituBhagat, Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Prof. Shub Kumar, Prof Pawan Kumar, Prof. Rajesh Chalotra and Prof Kulbir Singh were also present.
RAJOURI: In order to mark the participation in 4th Anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission, Financial Inclusion and Insurance Department of J&K Grameen Bank under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Angural and in collaboration with NABARD has conducted 222 Swachhata Hi Seva programmes across the state in various villages of the districts including Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Samba, Bandipora, Baramulla, Leh, Kargil and Kupwara.
Janak Raj Angural, Chairman J&K Grameen Bank expressed his appreciation towards the staff who is conducting the campaign with great zeal and enthusiasm in order to make the GOI mission a great success.
Romesh Vaid, General Manager J&K Grameen Bank, Vipan Gupta, HOD, Financial Inclusion and insurance Department, J&K Grameen Bank were also present.
UDHAMPUR: On the third day of Special Summer Camp, NSS and NCC units of the College organised a symposium on the topic ‘Relevance Of Truth And Non-Violence In Modern Era’ in which 16 NSS volunteers presented their views on the given topic.
Prof (Dr). Udhey Bhanu, Principal of the College presided over the function and Prof. Sumiksha Thakur of Dept. of Botany and Prof. Shonima Malhotra of Dept. of Sociology performed as member jury. In the symposium NSS Volunteer Nitish Sharma of B.Sc. sem-V bagged first prize while Priyanka Thakur and Mousam Kumari of B.Sc. Sem-I got second and third prize respectively. Consolation prizes in the symposium were claimed by Simran Suntal of B.Sc. Sem-III, Anchal Sharma and Sonali Bharti B.Sc. Sem-V respectively.
AKHNOOR: In the continuation of celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in the form of organising various events, GDC Akhnoor organised a cleanliness drive in which a number of students from NSS and NCC participated and maintained the beautification of college.
The Principal of the College Prof. Kuldeep Raj Sharma lauded the contribution of students and staff associated. The drive was coordinated by Dr. Mamta Sharma. Prof. Kuldeep Kumar (NCC Officer Boys), Prof. Jagmeet Kour, Prof. Sonia Bhau and Prof. Shivani Sharma (NCC Officer Girls) also participated in cleanliness drive.
RAMBAN: In consonance with national Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a Swachta Pakhwara was organised by Indian Army at village Champa, Dharmund.
Local population were motivated and exhorted to participate in the event. Large number of people of the area enthusiastically participated in the event and contributed to the national cause.
People were encouraged to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the area. Assistance in terms of brooms and dustbins were distributed by Army in addition to participation in the Swachta Abhiyan Drive.
KATHUA: The students spread cleanliness message through skits and debates as they celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi here at of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Mahanpur.
The program was organized under the aegis of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva Hai’ campaign by the Rural Development Department.
Additional District Development commissioner Kathua, Dr. Shubra Sharma was the Chief Guest and ADC Basholi, Sanjay Gupta was the Guest of Honour.
A ‘Swachhta Rally’ was also flagged taken out in which the participants resolved to create clean and healthy surroundings. Plantation drive was also launched to spread the message of clean and green surroundings. DPO, Tehsildar Mahanpur, Principal Hr. Sec. School and students in large numbers were present at the program.
Meanwhile, an awareness campaign regarding the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen was held in Block Development Office, Mahanpur as a part of Swachhta Hi Seva Hai launched by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MoDWS) in collaboration with Directorate of Rural Sanitation Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
The seminar was organized by District Coordinator SBM-G Kathua Aamir Manan Deva and Ubair Irshad Sofi, (MoDWS-GOI) in collaboration with Block Development Officer Joginder Sharma (Mahanpur). Assistant District Development Commissioner Kathua Dr. Shubra Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The function started with a plantation drive, the first plant was planted by the Chief Guest. Dignitaries who shared their views included Additional Deputy Commissioner Basholi, Sanjay Gupta and Virender Kumar (District Panchayat Officer Kathua), During the event Various Activities were performed by the Students of Govt Higher Secondary School Mahanpur, viz Swachhta Rally, Speech on Swachhta, Skit, Handwashing demonstration etc.
