JAMMU: District Legal Services Authority, Jammu, under the supervision of its Secretary, Naushad Ahmed Khan, on Friday organised an awareness camp on ‘Solid Waste Management, Say No To Use of Plastic/Polythene, Water Conservation and Save Plants’ here at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gole Gujral also attended by the students of Government Girls High School of the area.
Addressing the gathering comprising of students, faculty members, non teaching staff of the twin schools, the Secretary DLSA he explained in detail about the importance of Solid Waste Management, Water Harvesting, Cleanliness and ill effects of the use of Plastic/Polythene to our environment.
He stressed upon, that Environmental Right is an extension of the basic human rights, that mankind required and deserves and this means that all of us are duty bound to protect the environment. The students were apprised on various ways on how to keep our native places safe such as by discarding the use of Polythene and Plastics in our day to day life. As water is a very precious, one should not pollute water bodies. Secretary, DLSA Jammu also stressed upon the students to keep the environment safe by maintaining the quality of soil, water and air.
Besides Secretary, DLSA those who made aware the students regarding environment and cleanliness were Sh. Madan Lal Sharma, Principal Govt. Boys, Hr. Secondary School, Gole Gujral, Jammu, Sh. Gurdeep Salathia, Lecturer at Govt. Hr. Secondary School, Ms. Suman Lata lecturer at Govt. Hr. Secondary School Gole Gujaral, Jammu.
A rally was also carried out under the supervision of Secretary DLSA Jammu with the active participation of the students, teaching and non teaching staff at Gole Gujaral road with the slogans “Say No to the Plastics/Polythene, Water Conservation and Save Plants.” Pledge was also taken at the culmination of the programme to keep our environment safe and to make cleanliness as our motto in life.
