JAMMU: Deputy Mayor Jammu, Purnima Sharma has urged the Councilors of Jammu Municipal Corporation to make a list of needy people in their respective wards and submit the same the Commissioner JMC for providing essential food items to them.
Briefing media persons here on Saturday, Deputy Mayor informed that JMC has been supplying essentials to needy people in different wards, but councillors brought to the notice of Deputy Mayor that distribution of food-items and essentials was done without information of the concerned Councillors, due to which actual needy persons were not provided essential food supplies. She informed the Councilors that they can make a list of needy people of their respective wards and submit the same to Commissioner JMC for providing them essential food items.
“The criteria for making the list will be that individual should not be possessing a ration card otherwise he/she can take ration from nearest ration depot. Moreover, the individual must not have taken any help in past from Government of India regarding essential food supplies. These are major two criteria upon which the list should be made by the Councillors and later submitted to Commissioner JMC for providing necessary help,” she said.
Purnima assured people that distribution of ration (food supplies) will be done in all wards to provide relief to needy. She further appealed to the public of Jammu to stay indoors and cooperate with the Government and Police, which are trying their best to stop further spread of this pandemic.
