POUNI: As part of Fit India Movement launched by Central Government, Government High School (GHS) Pouni in District Reasi organised sports meet for the girls of the school.
The girl students of GHS Pouni participated in the recreational games and handpower competition.
Students showed lot of interest in the sporting activities which were organised under the stewardship of Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Head Teacher posted at GPS Ikhani in collaboration with ZEO Pouni under the guidelines of District administration Reasi.
Nirmal Choudhary, Chief Education Officer said such awareness of “Fit India” initiative among the girl students is very vital as sports girls like P.V Sindhu Badminton world Champion and Hema Dass (athlete) becoming inspiration among girls and can be a role models for school girls especially who have efficiency to excel in sports at various levels.
Initiative of mass awareness by Sanjeev Kumar Sharma is commendable and can be a guiding force for the budding players to reach at national & international levels, he said.
Later prizes were distributed among the participants by Vaishno Devi Headmaster of the Institution. Anamika of class 9th won strong girl title in Handpower Competiton, Pooja of class 8th became winner in short race while Priya of class 6th class won spoon race competition and Vanshika of class 6th won chair race competition. In all, 250 girls participated in the Fit India Awareness campaign.
Rasveer Singh, Ujagar Singh, Daleep Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Samrender Kumar, Baljeet Kour, Gagandeep Kour, Ranjita Manhas, Rekha Devi, Pooja Devi, Ishan Gandotra, Laxmi Devi, Powail Singh, Romesh Chander, all teaching fraternity and staff extended their full support in ensuing the smooth conduct of the event.
