Dear Editor,
It is a sorry state of affairs in Chennai, with millions of people being badly hit by torrential rains. On earlier occasions, Jammu and Kashmir, Vadodara, Assam and Uttarakhand too witnessed flood crises. But have we learnt any lesson?
It is known that the root cause of rains and floods is global warming. Hence, it is time that we manage climate change. And to avoid the occurrence of such floods in the future, steps must be taken to set up an adequate drainage system so as to flush out flood-water.
