KATHUA: Centre for Women Studies, Govt. Degree College Kathua organised Poster making competition and Symposium on the theme ” Impact of Internet & Social media on Women Empowerment ” on the eve of International Women Day. Programme was started by lightening of lamp by Prof. Assa Ram Sharma, Principal Govt. Degree College Kathua who was the chief guest on this occasion.
Dr. Rachna, Director CWS in her welcome address explained about the various activities organised by the CWS from time to time. She stressed that women empowerment is the need of the hour and also a biggest challenge. The objective of selecting this topic was to aware the youth about the importance of Internet in their life. She said that Internet is not only a medium of entertainment but a useful tool to create awareness.
In the symposium competition, 15 students shared their views on the topic and 15 students participated in Poster making Competition. Prof. Assa Ram Sharma, chief guest of the event appreciated the CWS for organising various awareness programmes from time to time.
Chief guest in his address, said that today technology directly impacts women’s development and has enabled their voice to reach out and be viewed globally. He further said that Internet is empowering Indian Women with easy access to information and helping them to make more informed decisions in their day to day life. In the poster making Competition Miss Riti Chaudhary, Kajal Devi and Reena Sharma stood first, second and third.
In the symposium competition Aditi Tikku NSS volunteer, Shruti and Vishali stood first, second and third. Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Prof. Sunita Raina and Prof. Marvi Sofi were the judges of symposium and poster making competitions. Prof.P oonam Devi Assistant Prof Dogri also recited a beautiful and inspirational dogri poem “Mein”. Senior faculty members Dr.Manohar lal, Prof Seema Malpotra, Prof.Sumanesh, Prof Shikha, Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Ritu Kumar Sharma and Prof Anu Gupta and at least 100 students were present in this function.
Certificates were distributed to all winners and participants. In the end, Prof. Roma presented vote of thanks.
