UDHAMPUR: India Post Payments Bank, Udhampur Branch organized a financial literacy camp at Bhagga Branch Post Office, Reasi, here today. A large number of people of the area participated in the camp, which was a part of ongoing campaign of spreading awareness by India Post Payments Bank with the assistance of NABARD among people of unbanked and backward areas.
During the camp, Rakesh Singh Katal, Territory Manager, Udhampur Branch, apprised the people about various schemes of the bank and Government of India. Besides, educating the gathering about the benefits of digital banking and cash less economy, He also talked about Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS). He said with AEPS services anyone with a bank account linked to Aadhaar can carry out basic banking services such as cash withdrawals and balance enquiry in any Post Office of India i.e Branch Post Office/Sub Post Office/ Head Post Office. He further informed the masses that now-a-days banks in addition to traditional banking products i.e. deposits & advances also offer all types of insurance products through their tie-ups with Insurers. So, he urged the public to approach their nearby post office and adequately insure themselves and their families.
District Development Manager of NABARD, Adarsh Gupta said the scheme aims at eradicating financial untouchability by providing bank accounts to the poor. He also discussed about the importance of having a bank account, advantages of saving with banks, other facilities provided by banks and benefits of borrowing from banks. An on-spot account opening counter was also set up by the India Post Payments Bank at the venue of the camp, where a large number of people opened their bank accounts.
