JAMMU: In prevailing situation arising due to outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, the team of JMC is putting extra efforts to keep the city clean. The exclusive sanitation drive, which started on March 23, 2020, is still going on within JMC limits with added zeal and vigour.
During the drive, JMC, on tuesday, covered various extended wards like Barnai, Sunjwan, roads of Talab Tillo, Trikuta Nagar, National highway like Narwal Highway and Sidhra Highway, which were facing problem of garbage accumulation and same was cleared by teams of sanitation wing.
During the drive, de-silting of deep drains falling in aforesaid areas was also done for providing clean, healthy atmosphere around and improved sanitation to general public.
Further, in various chronic areas twin dustbins were also installed. Apart from daily/routine lifting of garbage from all Jammu Municipal Corporation wards, more than 2000 tons of garbage/silt was collected and transported to dumping site at Kot Bhalwal. In addition, de-silting is also going on daily basis in Kunj Vihar Sec 4 Nanak Nagar Landoi Choi Nallah, Kabir Colony Nallah and Talab Tillo Nallah, from where which more than 4,800 MT of silt has been removed till date.
Jammu Municipal Corporation has deployed both men and machinery for special drive conducted on directions of Avny Lavasa, Commissioner and under overall supervision of Tinna Mahajan, Secretary JMC. The deployment included six JCB, 12 tippers, 35 nallah labourers and 150 Safaikaramcharis.
Besides above, Jammu Municipal Corporation in coordination with Jammu Fire & Emergency Services and Agriculture Department have deployed 4 boom sprayers and 2 new mist sprayers into service for cleaning areas like Asia Road, Airport Road, Fly Over, Tawi bridges, Gandhi Nagar Roads, Jewel Roads, Indira Chowk, Amphalla etc to contain coronavirus.
The Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation has appealed to the general public to maintain proper sanitation, as without help of citizens it is hard to achieve desired results besides making Jammu a clean city.
Among others Health Officer, MVO, CTO, field staff of Transport & Sanitation wing put in their best efforts during the drive.
