UDHAMPUR: Former MLA & NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia on Friday appealed JK UT Government to take early steps to evacuate the persons including students, labourers etc of Jammu Kashmir who were stranded outside UT due to lockdown. In a handout issued, Mankotia threatened to sit on indefinite hunger strike if the evacuation will not be done within one week.
He informed that on 29th April he introduced helpline number for stranded persons & near about 2000+ contacts has been received & further forwarded to Govt till now but Govt has adopted casual approach towards the evacuation of stranded persons. He said that Students, labourers were forced to live without food who were stuck outside UT.
Mankotia urged Lt Governor GC Murmu to take necessary steps to evacuate them within one week else he will sit on indefinite Hunger Strike.
