JAMMU: On the occasion of Nirjala Ekadashi, BJP J&K Vice President Yudhvir Sethi along with Corporator Narottam Sharma on Tuesday organized a Bhandara at Sarajana Dhakki, Jammu East Constituency.
Parveen Kerni, Mandal President BJP Jammu East, Vinod Kumar Gupta Vice President Jammu East and Vipan Sharma General Secretary Jammu East were also present.
Pertinent to mention here that Ajay Verma along with team members namely Bhanu Singh Jamwal, Vijay Verma, Rakesh Sawhney, Rajesh Kapoor and Pawan Chauhan have been organizing Langar for the last 63 days for the needy people of Jammu amidst coronavirus pandemic.
Today’s Langar marked the culmination of 63-day long initiative of Ajay Verma and his team members.
Sethi along with others served Langar and water amongst people.
Sethi urged people to stay connected to their roots and continue to observe such rituals in a big way that is aimed at strengthening our culture and heritage.
Corporator Narottam Sharma said that the way the people of the country have supported to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi presenting a new hope for the nation in its fight against the global crisis of coronavirus.
The OBC Department of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, under the leadership of its Chairman, Suresh Kumar Dogra celebrated Nirjala Ekadashi on Tuesday by distributing cold-drinks and sweetened water among people at Shalamar road and Raghunath-Pura Mohalla, amidst observing all social distancing norms to contain coronavirus.
Speaking on the occasion, Dogra said that Nirjala Ekadashi is a holy festival of Hindu religion on which Bhagwan Vishnu is worshipped.
“Every Hindu should have full faith on all our religious beliefs and perform all traditional rituals. As per holy books, Nirjala Ekadashi is the festival to quench thirst of thirsty people in hot summer season,” he added.
Gourav Chopra Corporator ward No 28 was also present on the occasion and helped in distribution of cold drinks.
“Congress being an oldest party of India is always ready to serve people of the nation at their doorsteps. Every Hindu should participate in all religious festivals with enthusiasm and zeal,” said Chopra.
Others present on the occasion included Raj Kumar Sodhi (President Ward No 15), Sohan Lal, Ravinder, Mohan Lal, Sourav, Gourav and Harsh.
Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) leaders under the leadership of JKPYC President Uday Chib distributed cold drinks among people on the occasion of Nirjala Ekadashi here.
This initiative has been taken by Ricky Dalotra, General Secretary JKPYC with a view to provide succor to the people in this scorching heat. He said that is no better way to complete this auspicious day by quenching the thirst of the people as well as security forces who are standing in this hot and humid climate.
Dalotra urged people to stay connected to their roots and continue to observe such rituals in a big way that is aimed at strengthening our culture and heritage. He asked people to extend wholehearted support to administration in mitigating the crisis besides following all instructions issued from time to time with no deviation, since a small mistake at this juncture can have deleterious effects.
The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DFSS) under the leadership of President Ashok Gupta on Tuesday distributed cold drinks to the BSF, CRPF, Police Jawans & Safaikaramcharis on the occasion of Nirjala Ekadashi.
Cold drink and sugar was given to Safaikaramcharis near Rani Park thanking them for their tireless efforts in keeping the roads and streets clean.
