JAMMU: Former MLC Vikram Randhawa on Sunday distributed ration among needy and poor families of Ward No-22 Shastri Nagar and Ward No-53 Trikuta Nagar in Gandhi Nagar assembly segment along with Councillors Jai Deep Sharma and Jyoti Devi.
Pertinent to mention here that on March 31, Randhawa has distributed ration among migrant labourers and today, ration was distributed among poor local families, who were identified by Ward Councilors. About 200 kits comprising Atta, Rice, Salt, Sugar, Oil, Potato, Onion, Tea, Soap etc were distributed in Ward No-22 and Ward No-53 in Gandhi Nagar assembly segment.
While speaking on the occasion, Randhawa said that no one will die of hunger in J&K during lockdown. He urged people to stay indoors to stop spread of novel coronavirus, for which the Prime Minister of India has announced a lockdown for 21 days. All those countries, which did not take the threat seriously, are facing deaths in thousands with every passing day, he added. “During the hour of the crisis it is our duty to support lockdown announced by the Prime Minister to contain the coronavirus,” said Randhawa, urging people to maintain social distancing besides taking all preventive measures announced by health authorities through various mediums.
Randhawa said that despite repeated requests, few people are hesitating in revealing their travel history for unknown reasons and have infected many others. He stressed upon the locals to inform the authorities immediately, if any person is found with symptoms of coronavirus, so that he can get proper treatment or quarantined, whatever required.
