LEH: Commissioner/Secretary Health UT Ladakh, Rigzin Samphel on Tuesday informed that one more sample report has been received negative for COVID-19. “Now, the count of recovered patients has gone up to 10, with remaining 4 positive patients, 1 of Leh and 3 of Kargil district. While reports of one hundred samples are awaited,” Samphel told reporters here.
Talking about opening of Zojila Pass, Samphel stated that the Zojila would be opened within few days for bringing in basic commodities such as K-oil, petrol and LPG gas. “This exercise would be carried out in a controlled manner with properly following regulations of containment policy. It would further help in making plans for opening-up of Zojila for traffic movement in future,” he added.
Talking about procurement of food items, Samphel stated that 30 tons of vegetable items of tomato, onion and cabbage, that reached region, would be distributed among general public by the Hill Councils of Leh and Kargil districts.
Responding to queries, Samphel stated that RT-PCR lab will be established at Choglamsar in a month’s time, and Rapid Test Kits are also ordered to meet test requirements in future. He further stated that Iran returned pilgrims, who are quarantined in different parts of country, are being taken care of and the UT Administration is in touch with them for all assistance. While the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Health is working for remaining pilgrims stuck in Iran, he added.
