JAMMU: A delegation of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) led by its Chairman, Vikrant Kuthiala, along with Kuldeep Gupta Co Chairman and Rakesh Wazir Co-Chairman met V K Singh, Director General, Fire & Emergency Services and discussed various issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Kuthiala said that due to expansion of Jammu City, the number of Fire Stations and manpower in the Department need to be increased, both in existing and new stations. He further briefed that Jammu City Master Plan 2032 provides permission for Multi-Storied complexes to come up. He requested that fleet of fire engines need to be upgraded to meet current requirements, including induction of high stair fire engines for evacuation of residents from high apartments, in case of any mishap. He further suggested that suitable training programmes, emergency drills and awareness campaigns should be held periodically in schools, colleges, private establishments, business houses, trade unions etc for spreading awareness among public regarding fire safety and safety measures to be taken at household level.
Rakesh Wazir suggested that norms to get NoC for any commercial premises should be set keeping in view the topography of the State.
Kuldeep Gupta requested that the Old Canal Fire Station should be recreated to cover areas in a better way. He also suggested that the claims filed with Fire Department should be looked into and cleared in a time bound manner.
DG Fire & Emergency Services gave a patience hearing to the deputation and assured that issues raised shall be addressed at the earliest.
