SRINAGAR: Continuing its action against violators of Government’s prohibitory orders, Police in Handwara and Sopore booked 44 persons besides, seizing vehicles in Handwara and Awantipora.
As per details, Handwara Police, in its efforts to ensure complete lockdown, booked 30 persons for violating Govt prohibitory orders in jurisdiction of PS Handwara and Vilgam. Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 89/2020, 90/2020, 91/2020 under relevant sections of law were registered in Police Station Handwara against 17 persons and a case vide FIR number 18/2020 was registered against 13 persons at Police Station Vilgam. Two vehicles were also seized by PS Vilgam.
In another action, Sopore Police booked 14 persons for violating Govt orders. In this regard, Police registered a case vide FIR No 57/2020 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated in the matter.
In Awantipora, Police seized 23 vehicles and 14 bikes from different areas for violating Government orders. Among total seized vehicles, 15 vehicles and 7 bikes were seized by PS Awantipora, 6 vehicles & 2 bikes were seized by PS Pampore while 2 vehicles & 5 bikes were seized by PS Khrew, who were found plying in the aforesaid areas without passes issued by the competent authorities.
Police has once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent spread of COVID-19, failing which stern action under rules shall be initiated.
