After creating hype over reforms in a bid to woo foreign investment in India in a big way, the BJP led Narendra Modi Government too has succumbed to populism in the wake of humiliating debacle in Delhi. In the process, several key segments of the society have been left in lurch in the 2015 Budget. The pro-people pretention has neither left the BJP as reformists nor populists, as there is nothing ‘revolutionary’ in the budget.
It is a matter of pride or shame for political parties to indulge in competitive populism by generating expectations instead of putting the nation on right track?
