JAMMU: Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens Jammu on Sunday held a meeting of its Life Members, via newly launched ‘www. saynamaste.in’.
Prominent among those who joined the on-line discussion included A.K Arora (Patron), J.S Sudan (President), Virender Kumar Gupta (General Secretary), Chander Parkash Dharmat (Vice President), R.S Broca (Treasurer), Dr. Shashikant Goswami, S.C Sharma and others.
The participants shared that the association has made a contribution of Rs. 21,000 towards J&K Relief Fund for COVID-19.
Members, who have not sent their contribution on this account so far, may arrange to deposit by cash with R.S Broca, Treasurer or by deposit into Association bank account.
The resolution adopted unanimously demanding from administration for some positive remedial measures in favour of senior citizen, who are prone to numerous heath problems, at the earliest.
They urged the District Administration to consider issuing atleast few e-passes in favour of office bearers of the Association, so that in the hour of need they could render required help to a needy senior citizen. Saying that that situation in Jammu city is mostly under control, they said with the exception of certain localities, there is need to relax restrictions.
In particular, and as a test case, opening up of new city across river Tawi i.e. Bikram Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Digiana, Trikuta Nagar, Channi Himat, etc needs consideration, they said adding that this would go a long way in providing relief to the residents (mostly senior citizen and lonely old couples) of these areas.
