HIRANAGAR: To commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, NSS and NCC unit of Govt. GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar organised a slogan writing and painting competition on the theme ‘Gandhian Thoughts’. Thirty students participated in the events with enthusiasm lots of thoughts provoking slogans were made. Principal of the College Prof. Subhash Chander Sharma motivated the students and appreciated them for their participation. The whole event was held under the supervision of Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Dr. Virender Pal Singh, Dr. Neeru Sharma and Prof. Vijay Chandan. The first prize was won by Ruchika Verma of Sem-I, the second prize was won by Priya Sharma of Sem-III and third prize by Sangeeta Verma of Sem-III. The jury members were Prof. Daya Vilas, Prof. Renu Gupta and Prof. Sapna Bhargav.

KISHTWAR: Army organised Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Thatri, Patnazi, Jangalwar, Shergwari and Kishtwar on the occasion of ‘Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti’.
The event was conducted with an aim towards developing sense of hygiene and sanitation in the remote areas of Doda and Kishtwar District.
The event was to educate students, youth and locals to accomplish the vision of a clean and serene Nation. The drive was structured on the national theme of “Swachh Bharat”. The locals were informed about the policies of Government required to be implemented and restructured around a comprehensive rural sanitation programme. Emphasis was also laid on construction and use of toilets and proper garbage disposal. The drive was well received as evident from the large number of participants.

REASI: Staff and students of Govt. Gen. Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi organised a series of inter-collegiate competitions to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The daylong activities included an essay competition, poster making competition, quiz competition and , a symposium on the topic- “Impact of Gandhian philosophy on the present day political leadership of India”. All the competitions were focused on the life and thoughts of Gandhi.
Government Degree College, Dharmari, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Education and Govt. Gen. Zorawar Singh Degree College, Reasi participated in this Inter-collegiate competition. Surinder Kumar from Govt. Degree College Dharmari bagged first prize in Essay Writing Competition, Sahurti Sharma from Govt. Gen. Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi bagged first prize in Symposium, Ashima Thakur from Govt. Gen. Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi was declared first in poster making competition. The team of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Education were declared winners in Quiz competition. Principal of the College, Dr. S.P Sarswat, briefed the students about Gandhian Philosophy. Dr. Chander Mohan, Dr. Surya Partap, Prof. Suman Bala, Prof. Rakesh Bharti, Dr. Anshu Gupta, Prof. Swati and Prof. Sunil Mangotra, other staff members and the students including NSS volunteers attended the programme. Dr. Amit K. Bali ( Asst. Prof. & NSS Program Officer), GDC, Reasi conducted the proceedings of the programme. Dr. Chander Mohan presented the formal vote of thanks.
