JAMMU: Reiterating his demand for CBI inquiry in the Jammu Tulip Garden project, State President, Shri Ram Sena (SRS), Jammu and Kashmir, Rajiv Mahajan has expressed serious concern over the neglect of Jammuites at the hands of Kashmir centric politicians.
Mahajan said that none from the J&K State Coalition Government of PDP-BJP especially the BJP MLAs from Jammu issued any statement on the stalled prestigious tourism project worth Rs 8.5 crore on 563 Kanals of land at Bhour Camp in Jammu outskirts, which was inaugurated by the then Jammu region’s first Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on 31st March, 2008, meant for growth of Jammu tourism.
Mahajan, in a statement issued here on Thursday, said despite raising the issue of Jammu Tulip garden on various occasions by Shri Ram Sena, no one from the government side especially Jammu based Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs and ex Ministers never issued any statement about the fate of the Tulip garden, one of the prestigious tourism projects in Jammu.
Mahajan demanded CBI inquiry in the expenditure of Rs 8.5 crore-sanctioned amount for the project and the status of the garden to be made public.
He also asked Speaker Legislative assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar constituency, Kavinder Gupta, under whose jurisdiction the Tulip garden falls, to take the matter seriously and sort out misappropriation caused in the funds meant for Tulip garden project and help in booking the culprits.
Mahajan said, despite Jammu region having the great potential of attracting both domestic and foreign tourists with extra-ordinary destinations in Chenab Valley, Rajouri-Poonch belt, upper areas of Kathua district and Suchetgarh, State Government is least interested in developing Jammu tourists spots. Mahajan demanded proper development of all the tourist destinations of Jammu region and development of Suchetgarh Border on the pattern of Wagha Border to boost tourism in Jammu region. Mahajan lamented that the previous governments did not bother to prepare project reports and submit them to Central Government for financial support so that such areas could be developed as attractive tourist destinations.
Mahajan asked Jammu region legislators, ministers especially from BJP to rise to the occasion and initiate process for developing Jammu region tourist destinations to improve economic condition of Jammu people.
