SRINAGAR: Police on Friday booked two notorious drug peddlers under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Budgam and arrested one drug peddler in Srinagar.
Police in Budgam had earlier seized huge quantity of psychotropic substances from the possession of two individuals. A case FIR No 27/2020 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Magam in this regard.
Accordingly the case was duly processed and the arrested drug peddlers were detained under Public Safety Act after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities. The drug peddlers have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Pandith, son of Abdul Ahad Pandith and Mohd Amin Dar alias Kantro son of Abdul Gani Dar both residents of Check Kawoosa.
In Srinagar, officers at a checkpoint on Padan Crossing Nowhatta intercepted an individual identified as Javid Ahmed Gilkar, son of Mohammad Ashraf Gilkar, resident of Mir Mohalla Zaina Kadal Srinagar who was trying to avoid police checkpoint in suspicious manner. The officers were able to recover 2,112 tablets of Spasmoproxyvon and 30 tablets of Alprasafe from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Nowhatta where he remains in custody.
Case FIR No. 11/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Nowhatta and further investigation into the matter is in progress.
