JAMMU: Youth Congress lambasted Government for terminating staff nurses and other paramedical staff, engaged under SRO-24, working in GMC Rajouri and other medical colleges.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, Uday Chib, J&K President Youth Congress regretted that medicos, who were appointed under SRO-24 under a well defined selection process and had been rendering their services to the utmost satisfaction of the department, were issued termination notices at a time when their services are needed the most by the community.
Chib said that the demand of revoking termination orders of staff nurses and other paramedical staff working in various medical colleges of Jammu region is quite genuine and should be fulfilled immediately since they had been rendering their services even in this critical time of corona pandemic as frontline warriors, while other states were providing incentives to health staff, besides re-engaging retired health professions.
Condemning termination of staff nurses and other staff, Chib said that such a decision shows double standards of present regime.
Uday further said that services of paramedics are highly needed to be continued in view of acute deficiency of technical staff and related facilities in Health Department.
Chib urged the Lt Governor to immediate withdrawal the termination notices to ensure restoration of services of para-medicos in overall interest of healthcare system in J&K. In view of ongoing situation due to outbreak of COVID-19, Chib appealed to locals to stay indoors and cooperate with the efforts of government and police, which are trying their best to contain the pandemic.
